Assistant Professor in Romance Languages & Literatures, published The Other Renaissance: Italian Humanism between Hegel and Heidegger (University of Chicago Press, 2014), for which he also won the American Association of Italian Studies Book Prize. He received a grant from UChicago's Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society for "Humanism, the Classics, and the Historical," a project with Boris Maslov (Assistant Professor in Comparative Literature). He also received a course grant from the UChicago Center for Disciplinary Innovation for the PhD seminar Philology as a Way of Life: Humanism and the Classics.
