Professor in Romance Languages & Literatures, published Alexandre Dumas: Fabrique d'immortalité (Classiques Garnier, 2014). He edited a special issue of L'Esprit Createur, "Michelet: Inventaire critique des notions-clés" (University of Minnesota Press). He received support from UChicago's Norman Wait Harris Fund and the Franke Institute for the Humanities for "Haiti: Beyond Commemorations." He also received support from the Office of the Dean of the College for "New Biographical Approaches to Literature" and he co-organized "Writers and Critics" with Thomas Pavel (the Gordon J. Laing Distinguished Service Professor in Romance Languages & Literatures).
